整流器 [zhěng liú qì] [zheng liu qi]—
A device used for rectification. Its principle is to suppress or weaken the current or voltage in one direction of alternating current (交流電 [jiao liu dian], jiāoliúdiàn), converting alternating current (交流電 [jiao liu dian], jiāoliúdiàn) into direct current (直 [zhi]流電 [dian], zhíliúdiàn). Devices with rectification functions include diode vacuum tubes (二極真空管 [er ji zhen kong guan], èrjízhenkongguǎn), diodes (二極體 [er ji ti], èrjítǐ), certain crystals (晶體 [jing ti], jīngtǐ), and minerals (礦石 [kuang shi], kuàngshí).
