月光 [yue guang]—Candraprabha, 戰達羅鉢刺婆 [zhan da luo bo ci po] Moonlight. One of the three honoured ones in the Vajradhātu, and in the Mañjuśrī court of the Garbhadhātu, known also as 淸涼金剛 [qing liang jin gang].

月光 [yue guang]—Gakkō (Moonlight) — [Bodhisattva] (菩薩 [pu sa]) His Sanskrit name is Candrapraha. He is one of the seventy-three deities in the Samaya-kai (三昧耶會 [san mei ye hui]) of the Vajradhatu Mandala (金剛界曼荼羅 [jin gang jie man tu luo]). His secret name (密號 [mi hao]) is Cooling Vajra (清涼金剛 [qing liang jin gang]). His seed syllable (種子 [zhong zi]) is the [?] character. Its meaning is transformation. This deity embodies the Tathagata's virtue of transforming others, signifying the transformation of sentient beings' suffering and misfortune to bring them benefit and peace. His form is white-bodied, with his left hand a fist resting on his waist, and his right hand holding a lotus flower. On the lotus flower there is a half-moon shape, and this half-moon shape is his sanmaiya-gyo (symbolic form). This deity is also enshrined in the Mañjuśrī Hall (文殊院 [wen shu yuan]) of the Garbhakosa Mandala (胎藏界曼荼羅 [tai cang jie man tu luo]). See the entry for Gakkō Bosatsu (菩薩 [pu sa]).

The moonlight. From the eighth chapter of The Travels of Lao Can (老殘遊記 [lao can you ji]): "By the time everything was settled and he returned, the ground was already covered in tree shadows, and the moonlight was already very bright."
