應頌 [ying song]—Geya — [Term] One of the Twelve Divisions of the Buddhist Canon (十二分經 [shi er fen jing]). Its Sanskrit name is Geya (祇夜 [qi ye]), referring to a re-recitation (重頌 [zhong song]) that reiterates what was previously said; it is also called "repeated recitation." The Treatise on the True Doctrine (正理論 [zheng li lun]) Chapter 44 states: "What is meant by Geya is using excellent and wonderful compiled verses and words to follow and praise what was stated in the preceding Sutra (契經 [qi jing])."
