Source: Wikisource: A dictionary of Sanskrit grammarYavādi (यवादि).—A class of words headed by the word यव (yava), the taddhita affix मत् (mat) after which does not get the consonant मृ (mṛ) changed into व् (v) although the affix मत् (mat) be added to a word ending in म् (m) or अ (a), or having म् (m) or अ (a) as the penultimate letter; e. g. यवमान्, ऊर्मिमान्, भूमिमान् (yavamān, ūrmimān, bhūmimān) etc.: cf. Kas. on P.VIII.2.9. This यवादिगण (yavādigaṇa) is looked upon as आकृतिगण (ākṛtigaṇa)

Yāvādi (यावादि).—A class of words headed by the word याव (yāva) to which the taddhita affix क (ka) (कन् (kan)) is added without any specific sense assigned to it; e.g. यावकःः मणिकः (yāvakaḥḥ maṇikaḥ) etc.; cf. Kas. on P. V.4.29.
Vyakarana (व्याकरण, vyākaraṇa) refers to Sanskrit grammar and represents one of the six additional sciences (vedanga) to be studied along with the Vedas. Vyakarana concerns itself with the rules of Sanskrit grammar and linguistic analysis in order to establish the correct context of words and sentences.
