Vyakarana (Sanskrit grammar)
Source: Wikisource: A dictionary of Sanskrit grammarYaḍanta (यडन्त).—A secondary root formed by adding the affix यङ् (yaṅ) in the sense of repetition and intensity, to roots having one syllable and beginning with a consonant; cf. धातोरेकाचो हलादेः क्रियासमभिहारे यङ् (dhātorekāco halādeḥ kriyāsamabhihāre yaṅ) P. III. 1.22, 23,24. See य (ya) (12) above.
Vyakarana (व्याकरण, vyākaraṇa) refers to Sanskrit grammar and represents one of the six additional sciences (vedanga) to be studied along with the Vedas. Vyakarana concerns itself with the rules of Sanskrit grammar and linguistic analysis in order to establish the correct context of words and sentences.
