學窮 [xué qióng] [xue qiong]—
One of the five poverty-inducing ghosts described in Han Yu's "Essay on Sending Away Poverty" (韓愈送窮文 [han yu song qiong wen]). Because it can impoverish those who seek knowledge, later generations used it to refer to poor scholars as "Xue Qiong".
學窮：韓愈送窮文中所述五窮鬼之一。因能使求學的人窮困，故後世借以稱寒士為「學窮」。
xué qióng: hán yù sòng qióng wén zhōng suǒ shù wǔ qióng guǐ zhī yī. yīn néng shǐ qiú xué de rén qióng kùn, gù hòu shì jiè yǐ chēng hán shì wèi “xué qióng” .
xue qiong: han yu song qiong wen zhong suo shu wu qiong gui zhi yi. yin neng shi qiu xue de ren qiong kun, gu hou shi jie yi cheng han shi wei "xue qiong" .
