懸頭 [xuán tóu] [xuan tou]—
1. To kill someone and hang their head to show the public. Han Shu, Biography of Wang Mang (漢書 [han shu].王莽傳 [wang mang chuan]): "Mothers of a hundred years, infants in arms, were simultaneously beheaded, their heads hung on the tips of poles (竿杪 [gan miao])." Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Chapter 3: "Gong then killed Duan Gui (段珪 [duan gui]) and hung his head under the horse's neck." Also written as "懸首 [xuan shou]."
2. Sun Jing (孫敬 [sun jing]) of the Chu (楚 [chu]) state, being fond of learning, tied his hair to the roof beam with a rope to prevent himself from dozing off. See Taiping Yulan, Volume 611, Learning. Later, it became a metaphor for studying diligently. Tang Dynasty, Li Shangyin (李商隱 [li shang yin]), Ode to Sentiments, Sent to Former Colleagues of the Secretariat: "Hanging my head, I once studied hard; breaking my arm, I instead became a doctor." Also written as "懸梁 [xuan liang]."

懸頭:1.謂殺人而懸掛其頭以示眾。《漢書.卷九九.王莽傳上》:「百歲之母,孩提之子,同時斷斬,懸頭竿杪。」《三國演義》第三回:「貢遂殺段珪,懸頭於馬項下。」也作「懸首」。
2.楚國人孫敬好學,將頭髮用繩子綁在屋梁上以防止打瞌睡。見《太平御覽.卷六一一.學部.勤學》。後比喻發憤求學。唐.李商隱〈詠懷寄祕閣舊僚二十六韻〉:「懸頭曾苦學,折臂反成醫。」也作「懸梁」。

2. chǔ guó rén sūn jìng hǎo xué, jiāng tóu fà yòng shéng zi bǎng zài wū liáng shàng yǐ fáng zhǐ dǎ kē shuì. jiàn < tài píng yù lǎn. juǎn liù yī yī. xué bù. qín xué>. hòu bǐ yù fā fèn qiú xué. táng. lǐ shāng yǐn 〈yǒng huái jì mì gé jiù liáo èr shí liù yùn〉: “xuán tóu céng kǔ xué, zhé bì fǎn chéng yī.” yě zuò “xuán liáng” .

xuan tou:1. wei sha ren er xuan gua qi tou yi shi zhong. < han shu. juan jiu jiu. wang mang chuan shang>: "bai sui zhi mu, hai ti zhi zi, tong shi duan zhan, xuan tou gan miao." < san guo yan yi> di san hui: "gong sui sha duan gui, xuan tou yu ma xiang xia." ye zuo "xuan shou" .
2. chu guo ren sun jing hao xue, jiang tou fa yong sheng zi bang zai wu liang shang yi fang zhi da ke shui. jian < tai ping yu lan. juan liu yi yi. xue bu. qin xue>. hou bi yu fa fen qiu xue. tang. li shang yin : "xuan tou ceng ku xue, zhe bi fan cheng yi." ye zuo "xuan liang" .
