玄策 [xuan ce]—Xuan Ce — [a person's name] was a disciple who received the Dharma (得法弟子 [de fa di zi]) from the Great Master, the Sixth Patriarch Huineng (六祖慧能 [liu zu hui neng]). The fifth volume of the Chuan Deng Lu (传灯录 [chuan deng lu]) states: "Zen Master Xuan Ce of Wuzhou (婺州 [wu zhou]) was a native of Jinhua (金华 [jin hua]), Wuzhou (婺州 [wu zhou]). He left home to become a monk and wandered from place to place, studying under the Sixth Patriarch (六祖 [liu zu]) at Cao Xi (曹溪 [cao xi]). Later, he returned to Jinhua (金华 [jin hua]) and widely propagated the Dharma (大开法席 [da kai fa xi])."
