修正液 [xiū zhèng yè] [xiu zheng ye]—
A 用具 [yong ju] (tool) for 修改 [xiu gai] (modifying) 文書 [wen shu] (documents). It is generally a white 乳狀 [ru zhuang] (milky) 液體 [ye ti] (liquid), containing 揮發性 [hui fa xing] (volatile) 成分 [cheng fen] (components). When used, it is 塗 [tu] (applied) to the area to be 修改 [xiu gai] (modified). Once the 揮發性 [hui fa xing] (volatile) 物質 [wu zhi] (substances) dry, a layer of white 物質 [wu zhi] (substance) is left to 蓋住 [gai zhu] (cover) the 錯誤 [cuo wu] (error), allowing for 重新書寫 [zhong xin shu xie] (re-writing). It is also known as 「立可白 [li ke bai]」 (Lìkěbái).
