新北市 [xīn běi shì] [xin bei shi]—
City name. Formerly known as "Taipei County" (臺北縣 [tai bei xian]), it was reorganized as a special municipality on December 25, 2010. Located in northwestern Taiwan, it covers an area of approximately 2,050 square kilometers.
