諧謔 [xié xuè] [xie xue]—
Witty and playful; humorous and jocular. From "Biography of Gu Kaizhi (顧愷之傳 [gu kai zhi chuan])" in Volume 92 of "Book of Jin (晉書 [jin shu])": "Gu Kaizhi (愷之 [kai zhi]) was fond of making witty remarks, and many people enjoyed his company and treated him with familiarity (愛狎 [ai xia])." From "Miscellaneous Writings (雜文 [za wen])" in Liu Xie's (劉勰 [liu xie]) "The Literary Mind and the Carving of Dragons (文心雕龍 [wen xin diao long])" (Southern Dynasties, Liang Dynasty): "Yang Xiong's (揚雄 [yang xiong]) 'Dispelling Ridicule (解嘲 [jie chao])' is interspersed with witty remarks, and through its circuitous self-explanation (迴環自釋 [hui huan zi shi]), it is quite skillfully done (頗亦為工 [po yi wei gong])."
諧謔:詼諧戲謔。《晉書.卷九二.文苑傳.顧愷之傳》:「愷之好諧謔,人多愛狎之。」南朝梁.劉勰《文心雕龍.雜文》:「揚雄解嘲,雜以諧謔,迴環自釋,頗亦為工。」
xié xuè: huī xié xì xuè. < jìn shū. juǎn jiǔ èr. wén yuàn chuán. gù kǎi zhī chuán>: “kǎi zhī hǎo xié xuè, rén duō ài xiá zhī.” nán cháo liáng. liú xié < wén xīn diāo lóng. zá wén>: “yáng xióng jiě cháo, zá yǐ xié xuè, huí huán zì shì, pō yì wèi gōng.”
xie xue: hui xie xi xue. < jin shu. juan jiu er. wen yuan chuan. gu kai zhi chuan>: "kai zhi hao xie xue, ren duo ai xia zhi." nan chao liang. liu xie < wen xin diao long. za wen>: "yang xiong jie chao, za yi xie xue, hui huan zi shi, po yi wei gong."
