賢坐 [xian zuo]—Xianzuo — [Miscellaneous Terms (雜語 [za yu])] One of the Four Sitting Postures (四坐法 [si zuo fa]). It is a sitting posture (坐法 [zuo fa]) adopted by Esoteric practitioners (密教行者 [mi jiao xing zhe]) when cultivating the Reverence and Affection Rite (敬愛法 [jing ai fa]) or the Subjugation Rite (降伏法 [jiang fu fa]). The Abbreviated Recitation Sutra (略出念誦經 [lue chu nian song jing]) states: "If one wishes to subjugate, one should face west and sit in the Xianzuo posture." The commentary notes: "This means squatting with feet together (並腳蹲坐 [bing jiao dun zuo]), with the buttocks not touching the ground (臀不著地 [tun bu zhe de])." Furthermore, the Cundī Dhāraṇī Sūtra (准提陀羅尼經 [zhun ti tuo luo ni jing]) says: "Erecting both knees (竪二膝 [shu er xi]) and placing the feet together (並腳 [bing jiao]) is called Xianzuo."
