Vyavasthāna (व्यवस्थान) according to a note at the 2nd century Mahāprajñāpāramitāśāstra chapter 52:—Ten bodhisattva vyavasthānas, named and explained, in the Avataṃsaka in the chapter on the bodhisattvadaśavyavasthānas. The Sanskrit names of these ten abodes are given by the Gaṇḍhavyūha, ed.

Prathamacittotpādika (tch’ou fa sin): bodhisattva producing the mind of bodhi for the first time.
Ādhikarmika (tche ti): beginner.
Yogācāra (sieou hing): practicing the practices.
Janmaja (cheng kouei): of noble birth.
Pūrvayogasaṃpanna (fang che kiu tsou): without antecedents.
Śuddhādhyāśaya (tcheng sin): animated by high pure resolve.
Avivartya (pou t’ouei): without regressing.
Kumārabhūta (t’ong tchen): crown prince of the Dharma.
Yauvarājya (fa wang rseu): quality of crown prince.
Abhiṣikta (kouang ting): anointed with crucial anointment.

Mahayana (महायान, mahāyāna) is a major branch of Buddhism focusing on the path of a Bodhisattva (spiritual aspirants/ enlightened beings). Vyavasthāna (व्यवस्थान).—f.

1) Arrangement, settlement, determination, decision; बाजक्षेत्रे तथैवान्ये तत्रेयं तु व्यवस्थितिः (bājakṣetre tathaivānye tatreyaṃ tu vyavasthitiḥ) Manusmṛti 1.7.

2) A rule, statute, decision.

3) Steadiness, constancy.

4) Firmness, perseverance; साधु धर्मे व्यवस्थानं क्रियतां यदि शक्यते (sādhu dharme vyavasthānaṃ kriyatāṃ yadi śakyate) Rām.7.13.18.

5) A fixed limit; न विद्यते व्यवस्थानं क्रुद्धयोः कृष्णयोः क्वचित् (na vidyate vyavasthānaṃ kruddhayoḥ kṛṣṇayoḥ kvacit) Mahābhārata (Bombay) 8.87.78.

6) Separation.
