Source: Brill: Śaivism and the Tantric Traditions (yoga)Vyākhyānaratnamālā (व्याख्यानरत्नमाला) is a commentary on the Vājasaneyīsaṃhitā, authored by Bhavadeva-miśra, who also wrote the Yuktabhavadeva (a 17th-century text dealing with Yoga).—The NCC (vol. 28, 60) reports that it is by Bhavadeva of Mithila, son of Kṛṣṇadeva and disciple of Bhavadeva Ṭhakkura.
Yoga is originally considered a branch of Hindu philosophy (astika), but both ancient and modern Yoga combine the physical, mental and spiritual. Yoga teaches various physical techniques also known as āsanas (postures), used for various purposes (eg., meditation, contemplation, relaxation).
