Vyādhibhakṣaṇī (व्याधिभक्षणी) refers to one who “devours disease”.—Aghoreśvarī is the consort of Svacchandabhairava. His iconic, visualized form is described in the Svacchandabhairavatantra. His consort who ‘devours disease’ (vyādhibhakṣaṇī) is mentioned there briefly with the remark that her form, with regards to the attributes she holds and other basic features, is the same as his. We may conclude that the goddess is contemplating her own energy as that of Aghoreśvarī in her aspect as the consort of Svacchandabhairava.
