Source: archive.org: Puranic EncyclopediaVṛṣṇivaṃśa (वृष्णिवंश) refers to royal dynasty (vaṃśa) of kings (rājan) descended from the Candravaṃśa (lunar dynasty).—Vṛṣṇi, son of Madhu and grandson of Kārtavīryārjuna had four sons: Sumitra, Yudhājit, Vasu and Sārvabhauma. Śini and Nimna were the sons of Yudhājit. From Śini came in order: Satyaka—Sātyaki (Yuyudhāna)—Jaya—Kaṇi—Amitra—Pṛśni. Pṛśni had two sons, (1) Citraratha and (2) Śvaphalka. 1) Citraratha. Two sons (1A) Viḍūratha and (1B) Kukura were born to Citraratha.
The Purana (पुराण, purāṇas) refers to Sanskrit literature preserving ancient India’s vast cultural history, including historical legends, religious ceremonies, various arts and sciences. The eighteen mahapuranas total over 400,000 shlokas (metrical couplets) and date to at least several centuries BCE.
