Viśeṣaśodhana (विशेषशोधन) refers to “unique purification process specific to the metal” and is used is in the metallurgical process of creating nāgabhasma.—The knowledge of different metals in the Indian tradition can be traced right from Vedic period. The descriptions are found in Veda, Yājñavalkya-smṛti and Saṃhitā. Metallography is an advanced scientific tool which is used in the field of Ayurveda [viz., using Viśeṣaśodhana] to confirm the Metallographic microscopy observation based tests in scientific manner.

Āyurveda (आयुर्वेद, ayurveda) is a branch of Indian science dealing with medicine, herbalism, taxology, anatomy, surgery, alchemy and related topics.
