Vīradvātriṃśikā (वीरद्वात्रिंशिका) is the name of a work by Hemacandra dealing with the Philosophical section of Jain Canonical literature.—The Vīradvātriṃśikā (in Sanskrit) is included in the collection of manuscripts at the ‘Vincenzo Joppi’ library, collected by Luigi Pio Tessitori during his visit to Rajasthan between 1914 and 1919.—The Vīradvātriṃśikā is usually known as Anyayogavyavacchedikā. But, like the Ayogavyavacchedikā, the other philosophical work with which it forms a pair, it is conceived as a praise to Mahāvīra. In the Anya° Hemacandra devotes 17 verses to the refutation of the doctrines of other schools (Nyāyavaiśeṣika, Mīmāṃsā, Vedānta, Sāṃkhya, Buddhism and Materialism), 9 to the exposition of Syādvāda, whereas 3 verses at the beginning and 3 at the end are in praise of the Jina. The present manuscript, which has a layout pointing to a rather early period, was copied within the kharataragaccha, but no further indication is provided.—See cat. no. 370 for the post-colophon addition.
