Vipadāspada (विपदास्पद) refers to the “abode of bad luck” (for human beings), according to the 11th century Jñānārṇava, a treatise on Jain Yoga in roughly 2200 Sanskrit verses composed by Śubhacandra.—Accordingly, “All the connections arising from the ocean of life are the abode of bad luck (vipadāspada) for human beings [and] thus, in the end, [the connections] are exceedingly tasteless”.
