Vinagna (विनग्न).—(vi-nagna), adj. (unrecorded; vi-, intens.), quite naked; also vinagnī-kṛtya, having made quite naked: tāś ca °kṛtya pratyavekṣante, tā hriyāpayanti Bhikṣuṇī-karmavācanā 11a.4, also 5; (text uncertain in) nagne vinagnatara te vicaranti loke Lalitavistara 158.22 (verse), so Lefm., mss. confused; Tibetan de dag sgren mo bas kyaṅ sgren mor ḥjig rten rgyu, (?) they go in the world to (in?) nakedness even more than the naked (perhaps read nagnebhi, instr. for abl., nagnatara, more naked than the naked?); in Lalitavistara 206.11 (prose) kāścid (harem-women) vibhagna-gātryaḥ, all mss. and both edd., but Tibetan lus sgren mor gyur indicates vinagna-g°; vinagna-vasanā Lalitavistara 220.12 (verse) with completely bared (i.e. removed) garments, Tibetan gos bral (garments removed) gcer bur gyur (became naked), a double translation; kāścid (daughters of Māra) vinagnān ardhorūn upadarśayanti Lalitavistara 320.16 (prose); others, Mūla-Sarvāstivāda-Vinaya i.14.14 f.; ii.41.4.
