Source: Shodhganga: Temple arts and architecture in the Srivilliputtur regionViluppanur (Viluppaṉūr) is an historical important region.—There is a Vishnu temple in this place, called Alakar Perumal-koyil (slang Alagapperumal). The place was originally known as Tennavan-ponparri-vilupparayanallur in Malli-nadu. The temple was erected during the later Pandya period and it was originally known as Sundarattolvinnakar-alvar. Inscriptions of Maravarman Sundara Pandya II are found in the temple.
