Source: archive.org: Ceylon Branch of the Royal Asiatic Society 1963Vijitagama refers to Vijitanagara (or Vijita, Vijitapura): the name of an ancient city in the Polonnaruva (Polonnaruwa) district of Ceylon (Sri Lanka).—Vijitagama or Vijitanagara or Vijitapura was a settlement said to have been founded by one of Vijaya’s Ministers, but a later tradition is that its founder was one of the brothers-in-law of Paṇḍuvāsudeva: the older Chronicle, the Dīpavaṃsa, does not name Vijita as one of the latter.
