He was of opinion that liquor, alcoholic medicine, honey, flesh, etc. should be avoided. It is not ordained in the Vedas that these things should be used. (Mahābhārata Śānti Parva, Chapter 265, Stanzas 3-12).

Most of these Gītās [i.e., Vicakhnu-gītā] originate from the Mahābhārata or the various Purāṇas.
Vedanta (वेदान्त, vedānta) refers to a school of orthodox Hindu philosophy (astika), drawing its subject-matter from the Upanishads. There are a number of sub-schools of Vedanta, however all of them expound on the basic teaching of the ultimate reality (brahman) and liberation (moksha) of the individual soul (atman).
