Source: Bukkyo Dendo Kyokai: BuddhacaritaVeṇukaṇṭakī (वेणुकण्टकी) is the name of a village mentioned in the Buddhacarita 4.9. Accordingly, “in the village of Veṇukaṇṭakī [the Buddha] converted the mother of Nanda, and in the city of Aṅgapura he subdued very powerful spirits”. Notes: Veṇukaṇṭakī was a village in the land of Avanti.
