Source: archive.org: Puranic EncyclopediaVeṇāsaṅgama (वेणासङ्गम).—A holy place in India. It is mentioned in Mahā Bhārata, Vana Parva, Chapter 85, Stanza 34, that those who bathe in this place shall obtain the fruits of performing a horse sacrifice.
The Purana (पुराण, purāṇas) refers to Sanskrit literature preserving ancient India’s vast cultural history, including historical legends, religious ceremonies, various arts and sciences. The eighteen mahapuranas total over 400,000 shlokas (metrical couplets) and date to at least several centuries BCE.
