Vedāṃta (वेदांत) [Also spelled vedant]:—(nm) one of the six systems of Hindu philosophy (so called either as teaching the ultimate scope of the Veda or simply as explained in the Upanishads, which come at the end of the Vedas); ~[jña/vid] conversant with the Vedanta system of philosophy; ~[vādī] one who believes in the [vedāṃta] philosophy; -[sūtra] the aphorism of Vedanta, compiled by the sage-philosopher Vyas or Badrayan.
