A man once offered a vatamsaka flower to the Buddha as he was begging for alms in Savatthi. The Buddha accepted the gift and smiled. When Ananda asked the reason for the smile, the Buddha replied that the man would enjoy bliss for eighty four kappas and would then become a Pacceka Buddha named Vatamsaka. Netti, p.138f.
Theravāda is a major branch of Buddhism having the the Pali canon (tipitaka) as their canonical literature, which includes the vinaya-pitaka (monastic rules), the sutta-pitaka (Buddhist sermons) and the abhidhamma-pitaka (philosophy and psychology).
