1) Better, more excellent, preferable; आरादुपकारकेभ्यः सामवायिकान्यङ्गानि वरीयांसि भवन्ति (ārādupakārakebhyaḥ sāmavāyikānyaṅgāni varīyāṃsi bhavanti) ŚB. on MS.1.1.23.
2) Most excellent, very good; वरीयानन्योन्य- प्रगुणगुणनिर्माणनिपुणः (varīyānanyonya- praguṇaguṇanirmāṇanipuṇaḥ) Mālatīmādhava (Bombay) 1.16.
3) Larger, wider, more extensive (compar. of uru q. v.).
4) Extremely tender or younger. -m. Name of one of the Yogas. -n. Ved. Rest, repose.
