Vānarāsana (वानरासन) is a type of posture (āsana), according to verse 37 of the Śrītattvanidhi.—Accordingly, “Place the knees together on the ground. Stand upright on them and clasp the arm with the opposite hands. This is vānarāsana, the monkey”.

The 19th-century Śrītattvanidhi is a sanskrit treatise describing 80 primary āsanas, or ‘posture’ (e.g., vānara-āsana) and several additional ones.
