vāṇagī (वाणगी).—f Usually vānagī.

vānagī (वानगी).—f ( H) A sample or specimen. 2 (Freely.) A portion of a matter in general (seen, heard, tasted, smelled &c.) serving as a ground upon which judgment is formed of the whole. 3 A portion of the grain or goods passed at a custom-farmer's stand exacted by the hereditary officers (over and above the duty) as a smack or taste: also the portion (of the produce of a garden, plantation &c.) which is presented by the lessée to the lessor. 4 Any rare or precious article (esp. as brought from a distance as a present).
