Theravāda is a major branch of Buddhism having the the Pali canon (tipitaka) as their canonical literature, which includes the vinaya-pitaka (monastic rules), the sutta-pitaka (Buddhist sermons) and the abhidhamma-pitaka (philosophy and psychology).

Vālagāma or Jālagāma is the name of a vihāra that existed in the ancient kingdom of Anurādhapura, Ceylon (Sri Lanka).—Jalagamaka is a tank donated to Abhayagiri-vihāra: Mahācūlī Mahātissa (B.C. 77-63) built Jālagāma-vihāra, also called Vālagāma.
