Uttaravādin (उत्तरवादिन्).—m.

1) a defendant, respondent; (Opp. pūrvavādin.) साक्षिषूभयतः सत्मु साक्षिणः पूर्ववादिनः । पूर्वपक्षेऽधरीभूते भवन्त्युत्तरवादिनः (sākṣiṣūbhayataḥ satmu sākṣiṇaḥ pūrvavādinaḥ | pūrvapakṣe'dharībhūte bhavantyuttaravādinaḥ) || Y.2.17.

2) one whose claims are of later date than another's.
