Source: Brill: Śaivism and the Tantric Traditions (philosophy)Utpannapratīti (उत्पन्नप्रतीति) refers to “an object of which the perception has already occurred” [?], according to the Nyāyamañjarī, vol. I, 326.—Accordingly, “Inference is of two sorts: one [concerns an object] the perception of which has [already] occurred (utpannapratīti) [at some point]; the other [concerns an object] the perception of which has [yet] to occur. But the inference of [entities] such as God [concerns an object] the perception of which has [yet] to occur. [...]”.
Shaiva (शैव, śaiva) or Shaivism (śaivism) represents a tradition of Hinduism worshiping Shiva as the supreme being. Closely related to Shaktism, Shaiva literature includes a range of scriptures, including Tantras, while the root of this tradition may be traced back to the ancient Vedas.
