uphaṇaṇēṃ (उफणणें).—v c To winnow (grain) by letting it fall. See upaṇaṇēṃ.

uphaṇaṇēṃ (उफणणें) [or उफाणणें, uphāṇaṇēṃ].—v i To grow rapidly; to shoot up briskly--crops, plants, a child. 2 To rise in blisters (as through some blistering application); to break out in eruptions--the lips &c.: also, as applied to the blistering cause, To work its due effect, to rise. Ex. bibā uphaṇalā, śēra uphaṇalā, umbarācā cīka uphaṇalā, jvara uphaṇalā, vastrā uphaṇalā (the razor, i. e. a new and rough one, or an infected or foul one, has by cutting caused an eruption of pustules). 3 To ferment and rot--fruits &c.: to sour and corrupt--milk or other liquor. 4 To swell and puff from conceit.
