Upanibadhnāti (उपनिबध्नाति).—(upa-ni-badhnāti) (compare next; Pali °bandhati, binds to, attaches; Sanskrit writes, composes, except once ppp. haftend an, [Boehtlingk] 4.207), fastens, attaches: Śikṣāsamuccaya 230.6 sarvasattvakā- yāṃs tatra svakāya upanibadhnāti, connects the bodies of all creatures with his own body; Gaṇḍavyūha 99.24 (guṇān…na vijahan, manasā āgamayann,) upanibadhnan, making fast, attaching (to oneself); yeṣu kuleṣu piṇḍakā upani- baddhās (attached to, fixed for, himself) teṣu bhoktuṃ preṣayati (sc. his guest-monks) Mūla-Sarvāstivāda-Vinaya ii.199.8; Saddharmapuṇḍarīka 211.2 maṇiratnaṃ vastrānta upanibaddham, fastened on (lit. and physically); Mūla-Sarvāstivāda-Vinaya i.119.9 balīvardā nopanibaddhāḥ, not tied up.
