Upalip (उपलिप्).—6 P.

1) To anoint, smear, besmear.

2) To defile, pollute; तथात्मा नोपलिप्यते (tathātmā nopalipyate) Bhagavadgītā (Bombay) 13.32.

3) To stick or adhere to; यो वक्त्रमुपलिम्पति (yo vaktramupalimpati) Vāgb. -Caus. To besmear (esp. with cow-dung; शुचिं देशं विविक्तं च गोमयेनोप- लेपयेत् (śuciṃ deśaṃ viviktaṃ ca gomayenopa- lepayet) Manusmṛti 3.26.
