General definition (in Hinduism)
Source: archive.org: Vedic index of Names and SubjectsUdāja (उदाज) is the word used in the Maitrāyaṇī Saṃhitā to denote the share of the booty of war taken by the king after a victory (saṃgrāmaṃ jitvā). This interpretation, which is that of Delbrück, is clearly correct, as against the older version, “march out”, given by von Schroeder and accepted by Böhtlingk. The Udāja thus corresponds precisely with the Homeric “???”. This sense also suits Nirāja, the variant of both the Kāṭhaka and the Kapiṣṭhala Saṃhitās.

[Sanskrit to German]
Sanskrit, also spelled संस्कृतम् (saṃskṛtam), is an ancient language of India commonly seen as the grandmother of the Indo-European language family (even English!). Closely allied with Prakrit and Pali, Sanskrit is more exhaustive in both grammar and terms and has the most extensive collection of literature in the world, greatly surpassing its sister-languages Greek and Latin.
