ucchavāsa (उच्छवास).—m (S) Breathing; but esp. used of deep respiration or sighing. 2 An air-hole or a spiracle (of a water-conduit). 3 A receptacle constructed at intervals along the course of a water-conduit; to cause the water to rise, and then descend and proceed with renewed force. In these two senses the derivative usvāsa is more common.
