From History of the Northern Dynasties (北史 [bei shi]), Chapter 60 (卷六 [juan liu]○), Biography of Yuwen Gui (宇文貴傳 [yu wen gui chuan]): "At that time, they were about to restore the ancient system of the Mingtang (明堂 [ming tang]), but the discussions could not be resolved. Kai (愷 [kai]) extensively consulted numerous texts and presented a design drawing for the Mingtang (明堂 [ming tang])."
