頭籌 [tóu chóu] [tou chou]—
第一籌 [di yi chou] (dì yī chóu) refers to being the first to win in a competition. For example: "拔得 [ba de]" (bá dé tóu chóu) [to win the top prize/to come in first]. From "Palace Poems" (宮詞 [gong ci]) one hundred poems, poem seventy-three by Wang Jian (王建 [wang jian]) of the Tang (唐 [tang]) Dynasty: "一半走來爭跪拜 [yi ban zou lai zheng gui bai]，上棚先謝得 [shang peng xian xie de]" (Half of them came running, vying to kneel and bow, ascending the stage to first give thanks for winning the top prize).
頭籌：第一籌，指競賽時首先獲勝。如：「拔得頭籌」。唐．王建〈宮詞〉一○○首之七三：「一半走來爭跪拜，上棚先謝得頭籌。」
