1. Common, shared. In 'Biographies of Wandering Knights' (游俠傳 [you xia chuan]), Volume 92 of 'Book of Han' (漢書 [han shu]), regarding Yuán Shè (原涉 [yuan she]): "The levies and funeral expenses all exceeded ten million, which his wife and children (妻子 [qi zi]) received in common." In 'Book of Wei' (魏書 [wei shu]), Volume 23 of 'Records of the Three Kingdoms' (三國志 [san guo zhi]), 'Biographies of He, Chang, Yang, Du, Zhao, Pei' (和常楊杜趙裴傳 [he chang yang du zhao pei chuan]), regarding Yáng Jùn (楊俊 [yang jun]): "Yáng Jùn (俊 [jun]) relieved the poor and needy (貧乏 [pin fa]), sharing what they had and lacked (有無 [you wu])."
2. In total, altogether. In Chapter 56 of 'Dream of the Red Chamber' (紅樓夢 [hong lou meng]), Píng'ér (平兒 [ping er]) said with a smile: "Though these few items (這幾宗 [zhe ji zong]) are small, when calculated altogether for a year, they can also save four hundred taels of silver (四百兩銀子 [si bai liang yin zi])."

桐宮 [tóng gōng] [tong gong]—
Place name (地名 [de ming]). Located in present-day Ronghe County (榮河縣 [rong he xian]), Shanxi Province (山西省 [shan xi sheng]). Tai Jia (太甲 [tai jia]), the eldest grandson of Shang Tang (商湯 [shang tang]), was tyrannical, immoral, and did not abide by the law. Therefore, Yi Yin (伊尹 [yi yin]) built a palace at Shang Tang's (商湯 [shang tang]) burial ground, which was called "Tong Gong", to make Tai Jia (太甲 [tai jia]) reflect on his mistakes there.
桐宮:地名。位於今山西省榮河縣。商湯的長孫太甲暴虐、亂德,不遵法紀,伊尹乃在商湯之墓地建造宮室,稱為「桐宮」,讓太甲在此思過。
