ṭōkara (टोकर) [or टोंकर, ṭōṅkara].—m A long and thick bamboo. Pr. viñcū vyālā ṭōṃ0 jhālā (The scorpion dies in giving birth--becomes a ṭō0, a mere tube or empty roll.) Used in expressing sorrow at the loss of some source of pleasure. For ṭōkara some read ṭōlāra, and explain the proverb differently. aṭharā hāta ṭō0 phiratō (gharānta &c.) There a monstrous bamboo (with an appended broom) is in exercise (and sweeps all clean); i. e. there there is nothing to be got.
