(Rhetoric) Figure of speech in which a word is construed with other words preceding or succeeding, of three varieties, viz., mutaṉilai-t-tīvakam, iṭainilai-t-tīvakam, kaṭainilai-t-tīvakam; முத னிலைத்தீவகம், இடைநிலைத்தீவகம், கடைநிலைத்தீவகம் என மூவகைப்பட்டு ஒரு சொல் ஓரிடத்தினின்று பலவிடத் துஞ்சென்று பொருள்விளக்கும் அணி. [mutha nilaithivagam, idainilaithivagam, kadainilaithivagam ena muvagaippattu oru sol oridathininru palavidath thunchenru porulvilakkum ani.] (தண்டியலங்காரம் [thandiyalangaram] 38.)
