Tiruvaḍattaurai is an archaeologically important site situated in Vriddhachalam-taluk (South Arcot district, Madras), known for inscriptions regarding the ancient history of India. For example, at Tiruvaḍattaurai there are fragments built into, the basement around the central shrine, Tīrthapurīsvara temple which mentions the god, Tiruva-ḍatturai-uḍaiya-Mahādēva and a village (name lost) in Peṇṇākaṭa-kūrram. This inscription belongs to king Rājarājadeva I of the Chola dynasty and is dated Āyiliyam.
