Tiruchengodu, is a town situated in the modem Namakkal district. It is a taluk head quarter. This is situated about 40 kms from Salem. This place is famous for the temple of Ardhanārīśvara, situated on a hillock, facing west, in the heart of the town.

Tiruchengode (तिरुछेन्गोदे)  or Tirucceṅgoḍu is the name of an village famous for ancient inscriptions.—Some of the oldest temples of India can be found in the south. The temple of Tirucceṅgoḍu has inscriptions from Parāntaka I (907-955 CE), as does the temple in Tiruvoṛṛiyūr.
