Source: Pali Kanon: Pali Proper NamesAn arahant. In a previous birth he was a physician of Bandhumati, and cured Asoka, the attendant of Vipassi Buddha. Eight kappas ago he was king under the name of Sabbosadha (Ap.i.190). He is evidently identical with Tekicchakani Thera. ThagA.i.442.
Theravāda is a major branch of Buddhism having the the Pali canon (tipitaka) as their canonical literature, which includes the vinaya-pitaka (monastic rules), the sutta-pitaka (Buddhist sermons) and the abhidhamma-pitaka (philosophy and psychology).
