tikhaṭa (तिखट).—n (tikta S or from tīkṣṇa through tīkha) Chillies or green peppers pounded into a mass. 2 Black pepper pounded up with other spices.

tikhaṭa (तिखट).—a (S) Pungent, hot, biting--a spice &c. 2 fig. Vehement, ardent, fierce--heat of the sun or of fire. 3 Sharp, keen, acuminated-a weapon as to its edge or point, a thorn &c. Ex. kānā- māgūna ālēṃ śiṅgaṭa tēṃ jhālēṃ atitikhaṭa. 4 Quick, ready, apt, acute--a person or his understanding, faculties, senses. 5 Severe, sarcastic, piercing, cutting--speech &c. ti0 ti0 jāḷa or āga Very pungent or biting; hot as fire. ti0 mīṭha ghālaṇēṃ To pepper and salt; to season or spice. 2 fig. also ti0 mīṭha lāvūna sāṅgaṇēṃ or bōlaṇēṃ To embellish or varnish (a speech or narrative); to dress up or season. puḍhēṃ ti0 āṇi māgēṃ pōñcaṭa A term for one who, bold and boasting at the outset, soon meanly yields and sinks.
