天下 [tiān xià] [tian xia]—
1. Ancient Chinese territory. From Shujing (書經 [shu jing]): Dayu Mo (大禹謨 [da yu mo]): "Heaven (皇天 [huang tian]), in its favor, bestowed the mandate, encompassing the four seas (四海 [si hai]), to be the ruler of tianxia." From Rulin Waishi (儒林外史 [ru lin wai shi]), Chapter 24: "There are many people with the same given name and surname in tianxia; how can you claim that I murdered your husband? This is truly bizarre!"
2. The political power of China. From Lunyu (論語 [lun yu]): Taibo (泰伯 [tai bo]): "Taibo (泰伯 [tai bo]) may be said to have possessed the highest virtue. He thrice renounced tianxia, and the people found no words to praise him."
3. A general term for the entire world. For example: "Ever since I was little, I hoped to travel all over tianxia."
天下:1.古代中國境內區域。《書經.大禹謨》:「皇天眷命,奄有四海,為天下君。」《儒林外史》第二四回:「天下同名同姓也最多,怎見得便是我謀害你丈夫?這又出奇了!」
2.中國的政權。《論語.泰伯》:「泰伯其可謂至德也已矣,三以天下讓,民無得而稱焉。」
3.泛稱全世界。如:「從小就希望能遊遍天下。」
tiān xià:1. gǔ dài zhōng guó jìng nèi qū yù. < shū jīng. dà yǔ mó>: “huáng tiān juàn mìng, yǎn yǒu sì hǎi, wèi tiān xià jūn.” < rú lín wài shǐ> dì èr sì huí: “tiān xià tóng míng tóng xìng yě zuì duō, zěn jiàn dé biàn shì wǒ móu hài nǐ zhàng fū? zhè yòu chū qí le!”
2. zhōng guó de zhèng quán. < lùn yǔ. tài bó>: “tài bó qí kě wèi zhì dé yě yǐ yǐ, sān yǐ tiān xià ràng, mín wú dé ér chēng yān.”
3. fàn chēng quán shì jiè. rú: “cóng xiǎo jiù xī wàng néng yóu biàn tiān xià.”
tian xia:1. gu dai zhong guo jing nei qu yu. < shu jing. da yu mo>: "huang tian juan ming, yan you si hai, wei tian xia jun." < ru lin wai shi> di er si hui: "tian xia tong ming tong xing ye zui duo, zen jian de bian shi wo mou hai ni zhang fu? zhe you chu qi le!"
2. zhong guo de zheng quan. < lun yu. tai bo>: "tai bo qi ke wei zhi de ye yi yi, san yi tian xia rang, min wu de er cheng yan."
3. fan cheng quan shi jie. ru: "cong xiao jiu xi wang neng you bian tian xia."
