Three Discriminations:—A technical term in Buddhism corresponding to the Sanskrit vikalpa defined in the Dharma-saṃgraha (section 135):

  1. Discrimination through recollection (anusmaraṇa-vikalpa),
  2. Discrimination through investigation (saṃtīrana-vikalpa),
  3. Innate discrimination (sahaja-vikalpa).

The Dharma-samgraha (Dharmasangraha) is an extensive glossary of Buddhist technical terms in Sanskrit (eg., ‘three discriminations’). The work is attributed to Nagarguna who lived around the 2nd century A.D.
