Three Aspirations:—A technical term in Buddhism corresponding to the Sanskrit praṇidhāna defined in the Dharma-saṃgraha (section 112):

  1. Bound to the beautiful (susthāna-prābandhika),
  2. Bound to the welfare of beings (sattvārtha-prābandhika),
  3. Purifying the Buddha-field (buddhakṣetra-pariśodhaka).

The Dharma-samgraha (Dharmasangraha) is an extensive glossary of Buddhist technical terms in Sanskrit (e.g., ‘three aspirations’). The work is attributed to Nagarguna who lived around the 2nd century A.D.
